The Kind of Friend Everyone Needs

Today is one of those days where I just haven't felt good.

And everything has gone wrong. Nothing big. Just little stuff.

It makes the day terrible.

Then, enters my friend, Jenna (http://jennawoestman.com/).

She did the smallest of things.

She brought me some decaf Starbucks in what appeared to be a day where every little moment was a bit of "how much worse could it get" and so I did what any self-respecting down-in-the dumps pregnant woman would have done.

I cried. In front of all of my students.

I gave Jenna a huge hug and thanked her for her kindness, weeping all over her on a day when I needed it most.

I haven't known Jenna long, but she has already seen me through some rough times.

She brought a burst of sunshine to my day!

Jenna, I praise God for you this evening. I thank Him for bringing you and your precious family into my life.  I thank you for letting God use you and for being the kind of friend everyone needs in their life. You are a blessing to me and I am truly grateful for you. I am so proud to be able to call you my friend. Thank you.

Baby 2, an Appendix, and a Personality Test

I have been intending to write for days now.

Things here have been crazy. I have been trying to get things done before this child makes her appearance.  We did finally pick a name so I guess I should call her that now instead of my usual kid/child/baby 2 comments, but I will leave you hanging for a few more seconds.

Anyways, after a couple of appointments, I now know I am measuring large, actually 2 weeks early kind of large. My doctor was not concerned (she thinks it is the way I am carrying), but seeing as Kaylee was a week early and I was not measuring large with her - for me, it is time to start freaking out.  Kaylee is still in her crib. Her room still not finished so that she can move to her new room and out of the crib. My bag is not packed. I don't have anything picked for Elanor to come home in. (yes, Elanor or Ella)  I have not even begun Elanor's book of my pregnancy with her. I have not had Adam clean the bathrooms in a while. My floors are filthy. Currently, I have laundry that is clean, but not folded and other laundry that is dirty and not laundered. Dirty dishes in the sink, clean dishes in the dishwasher. Ugh. You get my point.

Because Kaylee was early, my house was filthy. I never had the "nesting" phase that everyone said I would experience. My current status - the "non-nesting phase". While, I feel like I learned from my experience with Kaylee and I desire for it to be different this time, I still have no ambition to do anything about it. (at least not today)  Maybe motivation and this so called "nesting" phase will come tomorrow.

In other news, Adam had his appendix removed 11 days ago and he has recovered nicely. One of his scars is almost completely gone and the others are healing nicely.  He has once again started lifting Kaylee which is a HUGE relief for me as I am so uncomfortable and large that it hurts to lift her. For a few days I had to do it alone. It was terrible. I am so grateful for a tough, fast recovering, dashingly handsome, husband that is as usual my Knight in Shining Armor.

I took a personality test the other day for our Bible study at church and thought it was pretty interesting. I am ESFJ. F being my dominate one. It means I base decisions on how they effect others. Anyways, all the letters combined really do sum me up for the most part. I have some hand-outs from class. I may post more about this later. It was super helpful to even think about how different my brother and I are and some of why we struggled to get along as kids.

Well, I need to finish getting ready for work. Happy Monday!

Joyful Moment of the Day: I am not feeling well today and Kaylee brought joy to my morning by doing something she usually will not sit still long enough for, snuggling.

My Birthday Celebration

The day started off with taking Kaylee down to Shelbyville to spend the day with her Poppy and Mamaw.  They were so sweet to watch Kaylee for the day! I know Kaylee had a great time because she came home nice and tired.

Adam and I then drove to IHOP to meet what ended up being about 30 of our friends for breakfast.  It was so fun to hang out and eat with all of our friends! I had a wonderful time! Thanks to everyone that came out!

After breakfast we came back home and had game day.  It was fun to be able to play games with Adam all day. I must admit as far as winning games go, it was terrible for me. I got last place all day until the very last game I played last night. It was so much fun playing games. We had a huge turn-out yesterday!

Last event of the day was that my friends Kimberly and Chris had their baby boy last night at 10:30pm.  I had joked with Kim about her having her baby on my birthday, but what a special treat it really is to have such a handsome little gift born on my birthday. I am usually bad at remembering birthdays, but this one should be an easy one. :)

Joyful Moment of the Day: Today was a great day all around! Every moment was a joyful one!

Kaylee's Kidbits

Kaylee had her 18 month appointment today.  Her pediatrician is always so very encouraging and excited to see us and to see how much Kaylee has grown.  It is so amazing to see what she looks like now compared to her tiny little self at a month old. (Just to remind you of that difference... here are pictures.)

1 Month

3 Months
18 Months

Her appointment today confirms her growing as usual. She weighs 28 pounds 12 ounces. (93%) She is 34 1\4 inches tall. (97%) Her head is 19 inches. (90%)

Adam asked me if we should stop feeding her. The doctor says she is perfect.

Joyful Moment of the Day: No tears were shed this time when she got her shots. She is such a big girl!

My Hormones are all the Rage

Ironically, I was just telling my friend a couple of days ago that this pregnancy has been much easier for me hormonally.

The ironic part is that these last few days have been super difficult for me as far as the hormone boat goes.

There is nothing worse than trying to adjust your attitude all day long when your body only wants to cry or break out into rage over some small issue that really is not a big deal.  It's a battle all day long of ups and downs and trying to find some sort place of contentment.

I have been looking forward to this weekend all week. Our friends are up to spend the weekend, play games, and just be together.  I wish that I could feel better and not feel emotionally exhausted.

On top of all the hormonal stuff is the normal 7 month pregnancy stuff.  Sleeping has gotten miserable and I am all around pretty uncomfortable no matter what I am doing.

Please pray for me. I hate the emotional roller coaster.

There was some joy to the day...

Joyful Moment of the Day: Ryan brought ice cream with him. It hit the spot on a day like today.

Sims Bustin' Out

Over the past week or so I made it a goal to get the final promotion on my Sims Bustin' Out for XBOX. Part of that was because I was super bored one day and since Kaylee was playing so nicely, I did not want to disturb the wonderfulness of the moment.  Needless to say - the game sucked me in. If you understand the game, you know that you have to have a certain number of friends and a certain number of skills before gaining the next promotion.

I had the skills, but I could not gain/hang on to the friends.

I was getting really irritated because it felt like I would gain one friend only to find out that another one was no longer my friend.

However, tonight I conquered the game. Not only did I get my promotion, they sent me on a cruise and cheered for my awesomeness. Then, I flew away into the sunset in a helicopter.

I am so accomplished. Ha!

Joyful Moment of the Day: My friend Sara came over this evening (before my game winning).  It was nice to have some good conversation and to catch up.

Christmas Day in a Nutshell

My wonderful Christmas day in the briefest way possible.

Woke up at 5:20 am to Adam grinding his teeth and they were squeaking.
Woke him up so the noise would stop.
Had to pee.
He did too.
We went downstairs to pee. (Kaylee asleep in our room - don't want to go back up and possibly wake her.)
Played 2 games of Dominion before Adam's family got up.
I lost.
Family woke up.
Read Luke and prayed.
Opened gifts.
Big family breakfast. (I was stuffed!)
Played games with family.
Lost some more.
Big family supper. (Wow! Stuffed again!)
More games.
Lost again.
Tired. (so I was borderline cranky by evening.)
Came home.
Played with my new camera (which is amazing by the way) and my new coffee pot. (which is what I originally thought my camera was)
Somehow computer got on to my lap.
Exhausted.
Still up writing this.
Ok. I am finished. Goodnight.

PS. I hope you all had a very Merry Christmas! I know I did!

Joyful Moment of the Day: I really enjoyed getting up and playing games with Adam this morning. I felt like a little kid that could not way any longer for Christmas.  It was nice to capture some moments to ourselves without any other distractions. Thanks again, my Love, for getting up with me.
